Phoebe Speck 2nd at Odd Down on Saturday
The last race of the Odd down winter series saw four of the 24/7 ladies team race together for the first time. The team included Corrine Clark, Diane Moore ; Katie Thilthorpe and Phoebe Speck.
The race started with the initial attack on the first lap by an M & D cycles/ fusion RT/ WORKX rider who was quickly caught by the chasing peloton, the decisive attack happened on the third lap which consisted of a five woman breakaway group which included 24/7 riders Phoebe Speck and Corrine Clark and the favourite Chanel Mason (Army cycle union). The breakaway group consolidated there lead by gaining over half a lap over the chasing peloton. The second from last lap saw Chanel Mason and her team mate attack the rest of the breakaway group, only to be chased down by 24/7 ladies. The finish came down to a sprint between the five breakaway riders. The Army cycle union ladies attacked early in the sprint to gain an advantage which they held to the finish, just beating Phoebe Speck who finished second. Also a solid performance by Corrine Clark who finished fifth resulting in a good day of racing by the 24/7 ladies team and third overall in the winter series for Phoebe Speck.
