Darren Compton 6th - Welsh MTB Series R2 Builth Wells 11/4/14
Apr 17, 2014
Hopefully the last race on the Giant anthem A sunny Saturday in Wales greeted us with ‘ a punchy coarse, short technical sections punctuated by double track climbs and rock gardens’ But with all this and the mountains of the Brecons in the back ground we where presented with a course which was 100% rideable and only just over 10 minutes a lap! It did race better than expected with six laps to cover in total. I did my normal and started slow then on lap 5 my quickest I pulled up 3 places then had 5th place in sight with around 1/2 a mile to go. Happy to finish 6th which was 3 places up on round 1 – [...]
Joe Barry 7th - James Atherton Road Race
Apr 17, 2014
In the village of Owelsbury was the start of the 2014 James Atherton road race, 7.5 laps of a 9 mile circuit near Winchester.
There was a full entry of riders including Ride 24/7 Team riders Charles Rees, Billy Osmond and myself Joe Barry.
For the first 40 miles we rode strong as a team, attacking and counter attacking hoping that something would stick. As the race developed our attempts were brought back. Towards the closing stages an attack of 5 gained approx 30 seconds. in a delayed response i attempted to bridge to the break. Despite a big effort i got close, but [...]
Darren Compton 28th - National Cross Country MTB Series Round 1 Essex
Apr 02, 2014
March 30th BC National Cross Country MTB Series Round 1 Essex
After 1 hour of sleep lost and a five hour drive ( via thetford – long story ) I arrived with only just over an hour before my race start. Missed time slot for pre lap-not good prep! Was gridded at 30th out of a 67 strong field. The coarse and weather did suit me but the pace was hot. Was a good mix of short climbs, woody single track, dicey drop off’s and a bmx pump track thrown in at the end. I did drop off the pace on the 4th lap out of 5 but then found myself riding away on the last lap from a group of 4 i had been riding with and [...]
Darren Compton 3rd - Round 1 Cheeky Chalke MTB
Apr 02, 2014
23rd March Round 1 ‘Cheeky Chalke’ near Sailsbury.
Round 1 of three and a new race series. It did clash with a few other events but I choose this as points where up for grabs. A very low key event with only 30 riders across all cats. Would highly recommend for new comers in to mountain biking. Was 2 laps of 11 miles mainly on byways with nothing that was technically challenging but mud was available! I rode within the top three throughout the event but was happy to take third on the line as 1st and 2nd where probably half my age!
Mike Ward 10th - Early Season RR
Mar 31, 2014
Early Season Road Race (E/1/2/3) in Wales. Sunday 30th March 2014.
Once again the sun was out for us. This time in Llanelli, south Wales for The Early Season road race.
The race was nearly underway when an emergency call came through from the race support warning ‘hold the race, the cows are crossing the road!’. After a delay of 20 minutes, we were off. As usual the pace was high, even higher on the back of the course with some long fast descents. Riders kept attacking for the first 4 laps until a break of 6 riders got away. The circuit had a few gradual [...]

Joe Barry 7th - First Castle Combe of the year
Mar 18, 2014
I arrived at a sunny castle combe, to a full car park of keen racers kicking off there season. I came early in order to watch some of our youth development team, and 4th cats racing In the morning. Everybody did themselves proud for ride 24/7 as everybody had good results. Watching the lads ride was an eye opener, they have already come so far since our early winter training rides!
The elite race kicked off after lunch, and as the only rider representing the team I knew I had my work cut out. It was a full field of 60 plus riders.
About 20 mins a break of 5 was [...]

Mar 11, 2014
Race report from Sunday 9th March, Ilton from Mike Ward.

It was a mild sunny day, with a light wind that picked up more as the race went on. The race was delayed by an hour. The race started and a group of 5 riders got away after the first lap.
Then another 4 riders went on the 2nd lap. I bridged the gap to the 2nd group and left the main bunch.
We worked hard together and caught the front group with 3 laps to go.
